Here are the list of things you need to prepare or download.
- Latest Android SDK
- HTC USB Driver
- Baseband Version 1.82 Root Zip (Mirror) & Baseband Version 1.85 Root Zip
- Hex Editor
- Recovery
- Custom ROM (I used CyanogenMOD 10) Copy to Phone.
- Google Apps Download List or Download Latest Copy to Phone.
- First you need to get Root access
- AT&T has HTC One X with two different Baseband versions
- Baseband Version 1.82 Root Instructions
- Baseband Version 1.85 Root Instructions
- Note: You have to try running this few times until you can get it to run successfully. I used 1.85 instructions and I had to try 2 to 3 times, watch the output of the batch file carefully. (Or you can try running the command manually using this link, Thanks to Mike Roberson)
- To unlock Bootloader
- AT&T does not allow to unlock bootloader so if you tried instructions from HTCDev.com, it will not work. You need to follow this instructions.Your phone will be wiped out and you will loose root access but do not reboot your phone, stay in fastboot or bootloader mode.
- Install Recovery (Follow the same instructions, just change the name of the recovery file.)
- I tried to flash ClockworkMOD and it didn't work so I used Team Blackout recovery. It is as good as ClockworkMOD.
- Reboot into Recovery from Fastboot
- Backup Current ROM
- Wipe Data / Reset
- Install Custom ROM and Google Apps
- Reboot

Yeah, Thanks, bro!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the 8 Step program! IF you are having trouble with the 1.85 Script try doing it manually (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27376557)
ReplyDeleteHello , Is this safe ? I don't want it to get bricked .
ReplyDeleteI have HTC AT & T One X
Android Version 4.0.3
HTC Sense V 4.0
Software number 1.85.502
HTC SDK API Level 4.11
I have Mac OS 10.6 , so do I really need Windows for rooting ?
I will wait for your reply , before doing anything .
you can do this on Mac if you have android SDK and one x driver working on it. Try to get custom recovery first and backup your existing rom before doing anything.
